But, I did learn that half an hour on the couch with a magazine helped me feel better, even if I didn?t sleep.
Ask for help
Having some help around the house can be a godsend. My husband took two weeks off work after our daughter was born, and it was wonderful. He totally focused on taking care of the both of us, making me feel much less guilty about getting some rest. But, even if you can?t have someone with you full time, there are certainly people in your life that would be glad to come and spend some time helping you out with the baby and with household chores.
Take a shower and get dressed
Sounds crazy, I know, since all you feel like doing is lying in bed in your bathrobe. But, if you get up in the morning and get dressed for the day, fixing your hair and makeup the way you normally would, it?s likely to leave you feeling more like your old self.
Eat and eat well
You may not really feel like it, but getting back to a healthy diet as soon as you are able will help you regain your strength.

READING with interest the recent letters about the claimed health benefits and side ef-f fects of not eating meat from the vegetarians among us, I tried being a non meat and dairy eater for a couple of days, living mainly on vegetables, bread and baked beans.
If my experience is anything to go by … the meals were bland and I assume the windows are left wide open when there is a gathering of several veggies in one place.

THE chairman of the Save Brentwood Action Group is cynical of councillors’ attempts to pass the buck when difficult choices have to be made.
Gerry Bender said the council has already swerved one tricky obstacle – when it cut pest control services and the dog warden – by arguing no-one said they wanted them as part of a previous consultation.
Now he wants councillors to be honest and say where they would like the axe to swing.
He said: “It’s liking asking a condemned man if he would rather be shot or hanged? Councillors are elected to protect services.
“I think this is an abrogation of their responsibilities – if difficult decisions need to be made they should first put their own opinions in front of people.
“They have taken the king’shilling and they should be the ones making the decision.
“We also need to ask people if they would be willing to pay a bit more to save some of these services.”
Deputy leader of Brentwood Borough Council Roger Hirst, said: “I’m very keen to hear what residents’ honestly held opinions are. I have a very clear idea of what provisions should be kept but I don’t want to prejudice the consultation with comments of my own.”
John Brandler, owner of Brandler Galleries, in Coptfold Road, Brentwood, has also spoken out against the consultation.
He said: “Wasn’t it Lenin who said that those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything.
“Turkeys don’t vote for Christmas – I’m just concerned that this could be bit of a whitewash.”

People had needs and the environment was ripe for big business.
The problem with mortgage finance jobs is that it is a very cyclical business and it relies on constant new business and referrals for the brokers to earn money. If I had my choice overall, getting a job in the mortgage broker business would be one of my last choices. Good times are real good. Bad times are real bad.

TWO sisters had a hair raising experience in a bid to help their cousin with breast cancer. Kathleen Day and Karen Bester showed their support for their cousin Rosalyn Mayer undergoing chemotherapy by shaving their heads. Rosalyn lives in South Africa – where people have to pay for their own treatment. They did the deed at Kathleen’s house in Meadowsweet Walk on Wednesday.

I was doing my best to be a better husband and remembering to kiss her more often.
And my reward?
A sharp rebuke for thinking of my work whilst in the act of kissing. Since then I have a greater regard for my wife’s ability to know things without knowing how she knows. She talks about knowing in her “knower”. That place where God gives her impressions.
